• Wide-angle prime offers a 22.5mm equivalent focal length, making it a versatile option for anything from street to landscape to travel, as well as for selfie-style vlogging needs.
• Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is ideal for shallow depth of field and selective focusing techniques, and also excels in low-light conditions.
• Three aspherical elements help achieve high sharpness and suppress distortion and spherical aberrations.
• One Super ED and two ED elements promote greater clarity and color accuracy by reducing chromatic aberrations.
• Rounded 7-blade diaphragm contributes a smooth and natural bokeh quality.

Refined Focusing Performance Linear Motor system uses two separate motors to provide quick, quiet, and precise autofocus and tracking performance. This design also contributes to more natural, intuitive Linear Response manual focus control and an AF/MF switch is located on the lens barrel for quick focus mode switching.

• Internal focusing design offers more responsive focusing performance and maintains a consistent overall lens length during operation.
• Suitable for close-up shooting, the minimum focusing distance is 6.7″ with a 0.15x maximum magnification when using manual focus, or 7.9″ with a 0.12x magnification when using autofocus.
• Smooth Motion Optics (SMO) suppresses focus breathing to help maintain compositional accuracy when changing focus. This lens is also compatible with the Breathing Compensation function in select Alpha cameras.

Robust Design and Intuitive Handling

• Dust- and moisture-resistant design suits working in inclement conditions.
• Physical aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture switching to benefit video applications.

Good for wide angle

I wanted a wide angle lens with a wide aperature for shooting night time photos. I haven’t gotten to use it for shooting the Milky Way but that’s in my plan.

Sharp as a knife, small and silent: very well suited for blog work. Keep in mind there is a noticeable amount of barrel distortion which is to be expected from such a wide 15mm lens. The build quality is sturdy but not heavy and the $650 price tag is suitable. For those striving for a real blurred back drop on your Zoom calls.

Could be the perfect lens.

Thank you Sony for this amazing lens! I love APSC cameras so having an ultra wide lens option made for them is long overdue. I love all the options on this lens like aperture declick for video as well as the simplicity of going from AF to MF on the fly. I get that it’s a bit pricey but nothing beats it’s small size.

Fast and Sharp!

Perfect walk-around lens. Very light, sharp, and fast! Bulid quality is excellent! At first, I was hesistant because of the price, but it went down $100 off, that made me decide to buy it. A lot of features in a small lens. I’m glad Sony made this lens. Hopefully, this year they release a 24-70mm lens for APS-C.

Fantastic wide angle for ASP-C

This is a fantastic wide angle for Sony ASP-C cameras. Nice and sharp throughout different apertures. Great lens for landscapes or dramatic portraiture. Also great for video with the declicking switch feature and on lens aperture selection. An AF/MF switch and assignable focus hold button rounds out the excellent features of this lens.
