Put the Leveling Base on Your Tripod

• Compatible with RRS Series 2 tripods and installs on tripods with 3/8″-16 male and female mounting threads
• The Leveling Base has a 3/8″-16 stud on the bottom that allows it to be screwed onto a tripod
• The bottom stud can be removed to reveal at 3/8″-16 socket that expands the mounting options if you have a support system with a mounting stud
• It can be loosened or tightened after it’s been mounted using the included 5/32″ hex key placed in the holes around the base’s bottom

Awesome Leveling Base

The RRS Leveling base makes it so easy to level the tripod for panoramic photography. It was so easy to set up & use. I would recommend this product to anybody who need Accurate Revelyn for their workflows.

Just What I Expected

I’ve bought two similar leveling bases from Really Right Stuff for tripods too small to take ones that loosened, tightened, and locked from the bottom, and they’ve worked perfectly. I also once bought a leveling base of another brand, which turned out to be useless. (That one, instead of being locked by tightening a ring at its base, as are those by Really Right Stuff, was tightened by turning a knob on its side. I discovered that its lock was not strong enough to hold the weight of my camera, super telephoto lens and gimbal head in place, when I attempted to carry the combination rested on my shoulder. Instead, it allowed that payload to slip out of position and to rotate downward as far as its ball could move. That required me to stop, relock the base, and to carry the combination in an upright position, or to remove the lens and camera from the head for carrying separately from the tripod.) Since then I have distrusted that company’s leveling bases , and ones of similar appearance produced by other companies. Recently, I bought a Really Right Stuff Series II tripod intending it for use with a gimbal head. Searching for an acceptable leveling base to fit it, I intended to buy a leveler like one of my two from Really Right Stuff. I was surprised to discover that its current model had three gripping wings on its locking ring, instead of the two I was accustomed to and that this one could move 20 degrees in any direction from vertical, rather than the 15 that my previous models had allowed. Despite its price, I ordered the TA-2U-LB expecting something of at least comparable merit to my two other RRS bases. My prior bases had been mounted on tripods of competing brands on their 3/8 mounting screws. This time I was able to remove the insert in the top of the RRS tripod which holds the attachment screw and lock the leveling base down into its place. This saved me a little weight and placed the gimbal head a little lower on the confluence of the legs than I could have otherwise placed it, had I mounted it the way I had the others–both improvements in my eyes, since I intended to use this combination for it portability. Testing the new leveler, it performs flawlessly, including tests of its ability to support in a horizontal position a heavy combination of gimbal head, super telephoto lens, doubler, and camera locked perpendicular to the top of the tripod. That is as much weight as I will ever put on it carrying such a combination over my shoulder. Thank goodness for RRS quality.

This leveler works very well and makes using your tripod mounted Gimbal Heads fast to use. No time wasted leveling tripod. Works well with all tripod makes.

Smooth as butter

I bought this RRS leveling base to replace a month-old Sunwayfoto leveling base that stopped working. I should have bought it from the start as there is a noticeable difference in quality. The locking action is extremely smooth and the degree range in tilt is more with the RRS than the Sunwayfoto. Yes, it is more money, but I would rather be happy with my purchase and know it won’t let me down than be stuck with a useless piece of gear. I also appreciate not having to adapt the top screw of the RRS to accommodate my various tripod heads as it is already the right size. I’m very happy with this purchase!
