Really Right Stuff CANON EOS R5-R6-B Overview
The Base Plate for Canon EOS and R6 Mirrorless Cameras from Really Right Stuff is designed with anti-twist flanges to keep the mounted camera from twisting. Once the dovetail plate is on, quick release functionality has been added to the camera. This base plate is compatible with all Really Right Stuff clamps and most other Arca-type heads.
The CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum plate has a safety stop screw that prevents the plate from accidentally sliding out if a quick release is partially opened. The included hex key stores magnetically under the plate, and an option for an L-component is available that will fit the plate’s modular design and make a custom-fit L-plate. This plate has been Type II black anodized, which makes it resistant to scuffs and scratches. Furthermore, the base plate has a laser-engraved center mark on the back to align it on a head.

This is a well designed baseplate that perfectly fits my R5. The anti-twist pin is a game changer. Highly recommended if you have an Arca Swiss type tripod head.

It’s a RRS plate, and it is as expected: very high quality and does the job it’s designed to do. Yes, it’s more expensive than the competition, but I know it will work, without fail, with my tripods’ RRS ball head & monopods’ RRS lever clamps.

It has a better fit than other plate. Less one star is because I wish it had a full base plate, not just half. My Sony from RRS has full plate which makes hand grips much comfortable.

It Isn’t Equal To The 5D4 Plate

The old 5D4 plate from RRS included a wrench in the plate, magnetically attached. I wish this did, other than that, it works as advertised.
