TheTiffen 77mm #25 Red Filter is specifically crafted to enhance contrast in black and white photography, effectively distinguishing between various tones. When utilized, this filter can produce striking skies or mimic a moonlit atmosphere during daylight by slightly underexposing the image, while also reducing fog and haze. It significantly enhances infrared film, resulting in heightened contrast that makes skies appear more dramatic and transforms foliage to a white hue in landscape images. The filter has a factor of 8, necessitating an increase in exposure by three stops to achieve proper compensation.

Unlike dyed filters, Tiffen filters are produced using ColorCore technology. This innovative method involves laminating the filter material between two layers of optical glass, which are then ground and polished. The finished glass is subsequently mounted onto a metal ring, allowing it to be easily attached to the lens for the intended effect.
